Food & Fibre Workshop in Roma
By Jessica Duff
Preserving culture and traditions were a central theme for participants at the Roma Food & Fibre Workshop in Roma (Queensland) on 14-15 August.
Facilitated by Michelle Blair, the workshop focused on helping participants explore the “WHY” behind their businesses and projects, what motivates them to work with native products and the deeper purpose driving their entrepreneurial journeys.
The women reflected on the significance of continuing long-held practices within their Indigenous communities and the role their businesses play in keeping these traditions alive.
An inspiring component of the workshop was the development of vision boards. This creative exercise provided participants with the opportunity to visually articulate the meaning and purpose behind their businesses, while also capturing their aspirations for future growth and success.
Looking ahead, the participants were eager to engage in the next phase of the workshop, individual mentoring sessions with Michelle. A key part of the Indigenous Women for Food and Fibre Entrepreneurs, these one-on-one sessions provide tailored support. These one-on-one experiences enable participants to gain deeper insights and practical strategies for building sustainable business plans, social media platforms and strong brands.
